Trolling Tesla Owners by Wirelessly Opening Charging Ports
- smoldesu 4y agoDoes anyone know if this Tesla stuff is FCC regulated? I'd love to think it's a free-for-all, but something tells me that a car key would have a better security model than someone's hearing aids...
- harambae 4y agoMuch of it falls under NHTSA in the United States, and largely can be self-certified (the same is not true in other parts of the world, which are more stringently regulating it). Search "ISO-26434" if you're curious for more info. In this particular case, it seems like insecure charger/car authentication, which would be more understandable if there were third parties involved, but since it's Tesla chargers/cars both it's pretty bad.
