I disagree with the headline claiming that this is "desperately needed". Is the current interface amazing? Not at all, but it's fine and predictable, and doesn't often go out of it's way to be difficult. By comparison I think Netflix's design is god awful. The autoplaying videos/previews, useless ratings, nonsense categories, and constant reshuffling of the UX make it maddening to use. Chasing after Netflix with a knockoff of their design is about the last thing I ever want from a software product.
