You can't really count on the Light Rail here (Baltimore). Might have a great experience, might be stuck at the station for an hour waiting for a train. We used to do what you suggest when I was a kid (park at the light rail terminus, ride in to Orioles games), but ... that was back when it used to run more-or-less reliably.
