Yup I think the author was taking a little poetic license there. I thought he made some good points but I don't think it's universal. Sometimes good managers are good because they have empathy, good temperament, care about the team, and work hard to enable his/her employees. There are benefits to being able to write well and it helps with certain aspects of management, however there are a wide range of elements that makes someone an exceptional people leader.
