I generally take a Blu-Ray 1080p over any streaming option.
Note that plenty of movies, in the theater, were never done in 4K to begin with. 4K is great for selling TVs, but cinematographers and directors seem to be more lukewarm on using 4K. I think most movies are still done at 2K. Your UHD Blu-ray Disc might just be an upscale.
- ugjka 4y agoMost mastering is still done in 2K and, yes, everything out there is an upscale
- babypuncher 4y agoThis was still true 5 years ago but lots of big budget films are mastered in 4k now that storage and raw compute power have caught up. Disney notably dragged their feet, but starting this year all their new MCU movies are finally being mastered with a 4k intermediate.
- babypuncher 4y agoThe real benefits to a 4K Blu-Rays are HDR and the much higher chroma resolution.
