Aks HN: Can I use the idea brought up by my brain in a dream?
I often have ideas for a new project in my dreams,
but I don't know if they are my ideas, I check the web and there is no such service, so can I legally use the idea that my brain showed in the dream?
Because it is theoretically not my ideas but my brain.
But it's my brain, so, can I use them?
Even tonight I dreamt of a cool service that I can create in a few hours in React, but am I allowed?
I didn't come up with it myself just my brain in the dream, so I'm afraid of copyright.
- benj111 4y agoYour awake ideas are your brains, so what's the difference if your sleeping brain comes up with it.
- modinfo 4y agoWell, but I didn't come up with that idea! I was just dreaming, so is it my idea or my brain? Honestly? I, myself, would never come up with such a cool idea as my brain in a dream. Is it still my idea?
- benj111 4y ago'your' ideas and your brains are one and the same, unless you do your thinking with some other part of your anatomy
- xupybd 4y agoThere is no legal restriction preventing you from using an idea no one else has IP on. That includes your brain.
- modinfo 4y agoI think I need to talk to a lawyer about it. But it was my brain that generated this idea, so I use this brain and it is mine idea or my brain?
- krapp 4y agoYou are your brain. There is no other "you." The same source that creates dreams also creates thought and inspiration. There is no separation between you and your brain, your thoughts or its thoughts. Your brain is not a separate legal entity with ownership over its own intellectual property, separate from yours. You don't have to worry about your brain suing you over copyright infringement, or not having ownership over intellectual property from a dream, because dreams are a property of your intellect. You don't have to see a lawyer about this. it is still your idea. However. Neither your dreams nor your waking thoughts take place in a vacuum. Dreams are just your brain processing its own data rather than external sensory data. Even though experience seems to show otherwise, everything you dream is based on something you've already seen or experienced, just transformed, filtered or presented in a different context. You should still look into the legal viability of your idea not because it took place in a dream but because it may still be derivative, and someone else may have gotten there first.

- modinfo 4y agoSimple question, can I use an idea that I dream in my sleep and I can't find such an idea anywhere online? It may seem like a simple question despite appearances, but it is not for me.
- cumshitpiss 4y agoNo it's forbidden
- modinfo 4y agoBy law? Copyright? Write more about it.
- cumshitpiss 4y agoBy me.
- JPLeRouzic 4y agoIf you are employed, this idea may anyway belong to your employer.
- modinfo 4y agoI am my own boss, I don't hire anyone yet.
- groffee 4y agoAre you trolling or serious?
- modinfo 4y agoI already had several such dreams, where my brain showed me various ideas, unfortunately I forgot most of them, but today's dream I remember and I feel like creating it, but am I allowed? That's why I'm asking you guys.
- groffee 4y agoWell of course you are. Throughout history people have had inspiration through dreams. Might be worth starting a dream-diary too, will help improve your recall. https://www.bedguru.co.uk/9-inventions-inspired-by-dreams https://www.bedguru.co.uk/9-inventions-inspired-by-dreams
