The real solution is to either disintermediate the banks or eat away at their profits. LendingClub, Covestor, SecondMarket, Simple, Square, WePay, and Mint come to mind.
- mkramlich 15y agoagreed. it's simple and it only requires direct action on the part of the "little guys", and doesn't require Congress. also, shift more money into credit unions rather than traditional banks. generally, if we as a society make less money available for the Wall Street types to play with, they'll have less to play with, and the chance/magnitude of them fucking with the normal/base/productive part of the economy will be lessened in the future.
