WebKit Downloads for macOS and Linux
- InfiniteRand 4y agoAre there any maintained Windows ports of WebKit?
- karmakaze 4y agoWebKit is opensource and Chrome on Windows uses it, so there should be that.
- adamzegelin 4y agoChrome doesn't use WebKit. Google forked WK many years ago into Blink [1] [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blink_(browser_engine) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blink_(browser_engine)
- karmakaze 4y agoI see that the fork is of WebCore rather than WebKit. Since both are LGPL any forks would also be opensource but with forking WebCore rather than WebKit the thing that uses WebCore doesn't have to be open.
- lulzury 4y agoThere's WinCairo for Windows. https://trac.webkit.org/wiki/BuildingCairoOnWindows https://trac.webkit.org/wiki/BuildingCairoOnWindows
- pipeline_peak 4y agoWhy exactly is WebKit so important? It underperforms Blink and is forced on iOS devs. The majority of its users only use it by default. It’s Apple Internet Explorer
- MaxLeiter 4y agoI see it as a solid competitor to Blink, and JSC as a competitor to V8.
- pipeline_peak 4y agoHow much of that competition rides on the fact that Blink isn’t supported on iOS?
- MaxLeiter 4y agoA bit, but unlike many others I support the decision. Browsers are beasts, and I don’t trust anyone to port one securely to iPhone at this point
