I would posit that the "numbers on music consumption" are incorrect, and that Billboard, iTunes, Spotify, radio, television etc have no connection with "the whole creative culture". They are by their very construct focused on "old songs" and an old way of thinking about art. I am a musician and deeply grounded in virtually every genre of music. Not a day goes by that I am not blown away at some no-name musician on YouTube or other medium - at how they have extended the whole performance capability of their instrument(s) and of the creative process itself. Keep music LIVE!!
- hedora 4y agoI'm a big fan of Tidal's recommendations. It somehow thought that I'd like Rush a few days ago (not wrong) and started playing popular 70's music. My initial reaction was "I didn't even know that it could do that!" Usually, it's people that are one step past YouTube track, and actually have an album out.
