I've been using firefox for the last 2-3 years, and I've had it 'crash' 2 times, both on youtube, but that might be because of all the privacy related addons I have. Ublock origin reports more than 2k blocked scripts on youtube. Chrome also would crash occasionally and force me to reload tabs. I don't think chrome is significantly faster in practice.
