My issue with this idea of self promoting to stand out (as the article suggests), is that imagine if everybody did it, including all the creators you are competing against for attention. Overall effort increases, but the signal to noise ratio stays the same. I think an occasional HN post or a tweet is fine, you need to at least introduce your project to the community. But encouraging anything past that first introduction feels like it could lead to a culture of spamming
