I'd love someone knowledgeable on this topic to comment on how a 100 basis rate hike would affect the US's ability to service the 30T+ in debt the US currently holds. Interest payments alone already represent one of the countries biggest expenditures -- and that's at current rates. I don't see a default happening, but what about the inevitable need for austerity?
