- cronix 4y agoI'm not sure I'd use the word "steal" with open source projects.
- stickfigure 4y agoIf you're just trying to get the content, sure. If you want your citizens to be able to earn $ by working remotely for other companies around the world, this won't work.
- colinmhayes 4y agoI don't think they want that though.
- cuteboy19 4y agoFreelancing is very niche. Otherwise corp vpns do the job.
- newsclues 4y agoIt’s not about the content, it’s about CONTROL. Control what people can say, share and do. Obviously GitHub is essential an essential tool for modern day programers, and the CCP only needs to give the access to a version of that tool under the control of the CCP.
- trasz 4y agoIndeed, it’s about control: as it happens the state that controls GitHub is rather aggressive, and so it makes sense to have alternatives.
- coliveira 4y agoThat's the sad thing about Github. It takes something that is decentralized and puts in the hands of a company that is closely associated to the American security apparatus. I agree that China shouldn't trust it, given the current situation.
