Not sure how they failed - it seems the corrupt government stole a lot of $$ and picked on all the high $$ imports to save US$ - not realising it would cripple agriculture. Many farmers apply 2-3x as much as they need = it runs off and is wasted = algae in lakes/rivers. The public has revolted - their trouble is they have Rah-Rah elections = ignorant populists who entered politic for the loot = political musical chairs. This all came from tourism going to zero under Covdi. All they can do is get expert managers to run the economy and let the politicians give speeches and spend $$ that the managers approve - if they get good managers. these countries usually have 20 layers of familial nepotism and fill all positions with cronies that focus on loot. Wow, corrupt government is forced out via riots and someone like this -
