If I was to do a Java project today I would end up with more tools than I would with Go. I would need a build tool and code formatting but also a Linter and other things that the Go IDE plugin includes. They might be the most commonly used tools but the number of other tools out there that are less well served in newer languages is quite large. The most popular tooling is slowly making its way into languages making libraries and code generation easier. While old languages make this common tooling harder often just by having many choices they also often make less common and more obscure things a lot easier, because mature tooling exists where it doesn't in the new language yet.
