U.S. policy on China tech and chips
- hunglee2 4y agoSuppression of China's technological development is the correct objective for the maintenance of US supremacy. More work needs to be done on the propaganda side however, as trust in media is at an all time low
- throwaway4good 4y agoThat seems to be the goal of the US even though it is not stated explicitly. I don’t know how it will end; China has one big advantage - its domestic market for semiconductors is by far the largest.
- hunglee2 4y agoit's the clear policy objective for sure. The effectiveness might only be temporary - China is big enough for domestic competitors to emerge or get stronger - the US response to this is further escalation of suppression. The end will probably be war - US has decisive the advantage here and it makes sense to engineer a global conflict to maintain hegemony
- trasz 4y agoSadly, ASML is forced to cooperate with US, which forces China into developing its own alternative, which in turn means eventually ASML will lose its current market standing. We are observing a sabotage of a European company for political marketing.
