PicoMite – Basic Interpreter for the Raspberry Pi Pico
- Koshkin 4y agoI have used MMBasic on a Colour Maximite, and it is amazing and fun. Thank you Geoff!
- mkesper 4y agoThough a fun thing to do, I think I'd prefer MicroPython: https://magpi.raspberrypi.com/articles/programming-raspberry-pi-pico-with-python-and-micropython https://magpi.raspberrypi.com/articles/programming-raspberry...
- Gys 4y agoStill, this Basic interpreter is running on the device itself. I think MicroPython is not?
- AlexeyBrin 4y agoMicroPython runs on the device, you can open a REPL to it and command the device interactively.
- Fatnino 4y agoMicropython is definitely running on the device. It's running on the pi pico installed in my wall right now.
- scumola 4y agomicropython can also run natively on ESP32 devices and other arduino devices now.
- jazzyjackson 4y agoCool stuff, I wonder how the graphics primatives compare to other basics. Poking around the website I noticed a description of Pong running on a PIC producing a composite video signal with the timers, any possibility the Pico could produce such a signal and have a basic graphics library on top of that?
- cristoperb 4y agoGeoff's PicoMiteVGA project[1] is a Pico which boots to BASIC and has VGA output: "The VGA output is generated using the second CPU on the RP2040 processor plus one PIO channel so it does not affect the BASIC interpreter which runs at full speed on the first CPU. A handfull of components (resistors and a couple of diodes) is all that is required to connect the VGA monitor" 1: https://geoffg.net/picomitevga.html https://geoffg.net/picomitevga.html
