Crypto is inherently very different than gambling. People have been doing highly speculative investment in many different areas and this is clearly not something that will die. Crypto has been a fantastic vehicle for that because of the hype and the lack of regulation, but this won't last, people can't be fooled forever. Of course there will be other vehicles, hopefully less destructive than this one...
