Also yeah, my experience of my meds doesn't match what people describe from recreational use of stimulants. It calms me, improves executive function, allows me to build better directed focus, and be able to maintain that focus even through interruptions that would destroy all my momentum without meds.
I think it's probably related that I don't get the sort of buzz people describe from coffee, just a slight calming effect. I never got into coffee because it wasn't the energy-boost everyone says it is.
*: Presumably without ADHD. Although there is evidence for it being able to be passed-down from parents to children so can't rule it out.
- jimmywetnips 4y agoif you're a programmer, do you ever feel like you have to enter robot mode to do the work, and then step away in order to do more social interactions? I don't know if it's a symptom of adhd or if it's just a weird quirk I have. I'm very sociable, and I can code, but I cannot do both at the same time.
