I do something similar for the first 1-4 steps, only difference is I use cold water instead of warm or hot. I don't know how true it is but I read in a few places where hot water and glasses don't mix well. It can mess with prescription lenses and potentially strip away extra coatings you have like auto-tint. I know hot and warm are different but just to be safe I always go with cool. It's too bad hot water is bad for lenses because it would be really convenient to be able to clean them while showering.
