So someone can pick a lock on your door and hotwire your car and steal it. But with this attack they can only get access to the car. Hotwiring if there is an immobilizer is not possible.
- jjav 4y agoSure they can, but as pointed out elsewhere in the thread you have to physically go to the car and jimmy the locks to break in, which can (depending on circumstances) attract attention. Attacks which can be performed by sitting a safe distance away while pretending to do something else can be more widespread as there's so little risk to the attacker.
- Doxin 4y agoNote that you can totally have an immobilizer without remote unlock, or even batteries in the key.
