- feet 4y agoIt's the asinine relativist view that there are somehow 'two sides' to every single issue. It's bullshit and it's the reason the US has been sliding into consolidation of corporate power in the government. People can't seem to see past the propaganda
- anigbrowl 4y agoRelativism is a very useful tool for analyzing different phenomena; I regularly try to adopt the perspective of people I deeply dislike to understand them better. But this is hard work, and a lot of people just opt for a heuristic of 'look at the problem from both sides and split the difference'. This is often adequate for many small problems, but when you start applying that approach to value judgments it makes people alarmingly easy to manipulate.
