I miss when "summer blockbuster" meant something other than the 40th Marvel comic movie and the 20th DC comic movie.
- Gibbon1 4y agoBlade Runner totally got hammered by those three.
- aidenn0 4y agoWow, '82 was a year for sci-fi: E.T. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan TRON Blade Runner The Road Warrior ...and Fantasy: Raiders of the lost Ark ('81 release, but stayed in the theater for 80 weeks) Conan The Barbarian The Secret of NIMH The Last Unicorn Beastmaster
- JKCalhoun 4y agoI saw Blade Runner and Road Warrior as a double feature. Blade Runner was pretty but Road Warrior was the one that kind of blew my mind. No way you kill the protagonist's dog and blow up his car half way into the film!
- jamiek88 4y agoRoad warrior being mad max for other parts of the world?!
- tedunangst 4y agoMad Max 2.
- JKCalhoun 4y agoThank you.
- ant6n 4y agoThe dark Chrystal
- aidenn0 4y agoOkay, I remember typing that one in under fantasy, but it's clearly not there. I'm getting old...
- CWuestefeld 4y ago> the 40th Marvel comic movie This is exactly how they lost me. I have no idea which ones I've seen and which I haven't, because from the title or a little blurb, they tend to smudge together. So rather than watching repeats, I just quit.
- pleb_nz 4y agoEven if you didn't watch repeats, it's like watching repeats
- mixmastamyk 4y agoMaverick and Elvis were leading the box office for a while and still going strong, just like old times.
- JKCalhoun 4y agoYeah, I must be getting old. The whole "super hero" thing never resonated with me — not even as comic books. I'm okay with full-on fantasy like "Lord of the Rings" but this real-world + magic thing always felt ... disingenuous?
- henriquecm8 4y agoThat is just preference.
