BTW, my 2019 Honda 'vehicle' config menu lets me enable/disable remote start.
It's been possible forever to unlock most cars by replay. I care a lot more about the crim driving it away. This news implies only that an enabled remote start can be compromised, not that every so-equipped Honda less than 10 years old is at risk. Just de-config your remote start.
- kube-system 4y agoCompromising an OEM remote starter is not really a big problem anyway. The vehicle still will not allow you to shift out of park, and any modern system will only start the vehicle a limited number of times for a limited duration. They're inherently designed for unattended operation.
