The fact is that TikTok is currently superior to other apps in terms of user engagement. As a consumer, I understand that a business simply exists to generate profit, and while I can and do benefit from this pursuit of profit, our relationship remains adversarial; consequently, my allegiance is mercenary. TikTok is the best product, so I use it. I wonder why U.S. firms pay U.S. senators to loosen data privacy laws, such that they can compete with TikTok. U.S. firms seem to think that the cost changing privacy laws is greater than the cost of paying news outlets to turn public opinion against a business rival.
