It only takes ~8 minutes for light to reach us from the sun, so that seems wrong. 1.5 * 10^9 meters / (3.0 * 10^8 meters/second) = 5.0 seconds.

1.5 * 10^9 meters / (3.0 * 10^8 meters/second) = 5.0 seconds.
