What We Know About the ‘Homemade’ Gun That Killed Shinzo Abe
- guywithahat 4y agoIt was interesting to see an electronic firing mechanism, although this article doesn't really have any information that's not obvious to anyone who's seen a picture of it
- Vecr 4y agoThere are guides online, but electric ignition "electric matches" for model rockets are available if you don't want to make your own.
- netsharc 4y agoThe video isn't the best because it misses the killer approaching, aiming, and taking 2 shots, with the 1st one missing him. Such poor bodyguarding, if they had a 360 view around Abe, they would've stopped the man as he approached, ready to draw their own guns, and they would've reacted at the latest as he took aim. Looking at a video of Obama walking in Washington DC, I can see a secret service agent with his hand very close to his gun (under his jacket vest) as a civilian sprinted enthusiastically to shake Obama's hand.
- krispyfi 4y agoAll of the simulations involved the attacker yelling "Abe!" before shooting.
- zinekeller 4y ago> Officials in Japan, journalists, and firearms experts have all called the gun used to kill Abe “homemade.” Typically this refers to a 3D printed weapon, but the weapon used to kill the former Prime Minister appears more crude than that. Outside of US, when did 3D-printed guns gain popularity? Outside curiosity if such 3D guns actually work, I would wager "never".
- prvit 4y agoHuh? 3D printed guns work very well and are super common among criminals in Europe. Lots of FGC9 based designs for sale for 2-4k depending on how fancy you want. Especially common in the Netherlands.
