Ask HN: Does your company offer part-time programming roles?
- muzani 4y agoThere's contractors for that, but it goes through something like Toptal.
- satya71 4y agoYes, for someone who contribute a very high level while being part-time. As a manager, I’m just looking to move the needle.
- WheelsAtLarge 4y agoFYI, a part time job for a programmer is a bad deal for the programmer. Programming is a variable output profession. It's very hard to produce at a high level all the time since you have to solve very different problems on a regular basis. Managers will be expecting an X level of output from you as a part time programmer but you will have less time to think about the solution so to make-up for it you'll be working additional hours for free. If you want part time look into contracting for defined projects. It's better for every one involved.
