Six Ground-Breaking New Linux Laptops Released in the Last Two Weeks
- haswell 4y agoI started dabbling with Linux around 2001. As I got deeper into the ecosystem, particularly trying to run Linux on the laptops available at the time, I dreamt of a day when we’d have good (mobile) Linux hardware. A common sentiment at the time was that Linux would never be a viable desktop OS, and thinking otherwise was well…dreaming. It’s so incredible exciting to see the continued evolution of Linux-first hardware in the 2020s, with Framework at the forefront. As trust in institutions and mega vendors continues to erode, I can’t help but feel like this is the moment Linux was made for. The idealism of the time is now realized as a real alternative to closed solutions - solutions that are increasingly hard to trust. It’s gratifying to see as an aging Linux nerd. I hope it continues.
