It's the same with feminism, pacifism, communism, veganism, etc. I have around me numerous activists about various topics I'm not invested in: feminists, communists and vegans, mostly. Most of them don't try to guilt trip me or convince me of anything. They just do their stuff. Once in a while, one of them do, just like once in a while, a doctor makes a medical error or a plane crashes. But we tend to only remember this one, and associate the movement with it.
