North Carolina Looks to Remove Public EV Chargers, Probably to the Trash

- labrador 4y agoHigh tech in North Carolina peaked with the Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk and it's been downhill ever since
- cvccvroomvroom 4y agoPerhaps if they had Penrose highways and used regenerative braking, they could create limitless energy until their packs were too charged. :) It's a shame because RTP exists. Perhaps N Carolinians could develop a people's car ;) EV that is safe and low TCO rather than "Apple brands" keeping EVs out of reach of the masses.
- MomoXenosaga 4y agoThat's what China is doing. The problem is that Americans want giant SUVs that can tow a boat not a small hatchback.
- cvccvroomvroom 4y agoNeed a weight tax.
- thorncorona 4y agoYou know pretty soon we’re going to be a looking at a failed state with the way we’re sliding into a plutocracy
- cvccvroomvroom 4y agoLong time coming by slow degrees and shocked in waves by foreign events. https://youtu.be/Q2CCs-x9q9U https://youtu.be/Q2CCs-x9q9U https://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2010/10/americas-perpetual-decline/64206/ https://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2010/10/america...
- cvccvroomvroom 4y ago"We're going to cutoff our half-hearted attempt at green transportation mostly used by rich people to spite our grandchildren's survival. Yeah!"
- ZeroGravitas 4y agoThis is like Poe's law for, well laws. It reads like a parody, intentionally written to make people who would support it look bad. I have to hope that even in America, where banning municipal fibre and WiFi is a thing, that this is a step too far.
- manfre 4y agoI have some bad news for you... NC is a very dysfunctional state. Most of the population is educated, progressive and lives in urban areas. Due to gerrymandering, the less populated, rural areas have a disproportionally larger say in state government. Many will likely support this type of bill (it's not the first time ignorance was drafted as a bill) and there is even a (small) chance of it becoming a law. For another example of how some have protested EVs, search for "rolling coal".
- cirgue 4y agoPlease do not use North Carolina as a metonym for state house representative Ben Moss, the sole sponsor of the bill in question. This is not something that is on anyones radar as an issue aside from him.
- bojangleslover 4y agoI'll freak out when they actually do this Quality of life in North Carolina is obnoxiously high especially in the Triangle and Charlotte Also with the tax differential between NC and NY I can install my own charger in weeks
