How do you know? It's not like I specifically was even talking about calculators. App store is pretty much 99% full of primitive "free" apps that all offer unreasonably expensive monthly payments and that's it. Whether it's calendar, email client, workout tracker, caloric intake/nutrition app or whatever they all have same business model: Offer crippled "free" version or unreasonable monthly payment plan. I'll rather code a small app myself and host it myself than pay a 5/10/20/40 dollars a month for a app which actual value is 1 dollar (single payment).
