It would be super helpful to this reader if someday Wikipedia had a bot that would generate alternate, interactive 3D models of the various knot diagrams. I wonder if it'd be possible programatically, with the right ruleset? While the existing diagrams show each overlap / underlap really well, some of us perceive from the "whole condition" -> inwards, and these diagrams don't easily yield the absolute feel/view of stacking perception which is really helpful for that. A good example comparison might be something like: 2D: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brunnian_link#/media/File:BorromeanRings.svg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brunnian_link#/media/File:Borr... 3D: https://knotplot.com/view/?k=6.3.2 https://knotplot.com/view/?k=6.3.2 One thing you also get in 3D is a different set of 2D profiles. For example: Perceived side-on from the flatter side of the yellow rope, you can see that the other two ropes are made to form a sort of yin-yang of U-shapes. This could be interesting for further analysis. The ability to turn off or change the opacity of individual ropes would then be the icing on that particular cake, IMO. (This is just the beginning of my hope for openness to different perceptive styles in WP content...someday it'd be awesome to accommodate a variety of perceptive stacking-orders in addition to the current a11y and "dark mode" settings you can enable)
