As usual, the Russiaphilic argument is dependent on treating Eastern Europe as a bunch of client states of the USA dutifully doing the bidding of somebody in the CIA. It is dramatically undercut by them relentlessly demanding more troops and weapons (and offering to pay for them) and the USA not giving them what they want.
Russia thinks 30,000 American soldiers is a lot? Eastern Europe wants (and has wanted for a long time) far more. [0]

- VictorPath 4y ago> Eastern Europe as a bunch of client states of the USA dutifully doing the bidding of somebody in the CIA That would only be the case if Victoria Nuland was handing out food in Euromaidan Square encouraging Ukrainians to overthrow their elected government followed recently by $40 billion of arms from the US to the Ukraine. Oh, that did happen. $40 billion being the first of many such packages I'm sure. Your argument is $40 billion this year is chump change and some Ukrainians would have liked even more?
- whatshisface 4y agoI don't know anything about geopolitics, and I don't have a position on the larger question, but your reasoning does not imply your conclusion. A "client state" would not be given more support than was deemed expedient. Client states are a big step down from territories or provinces, and furthermore would ask for an unlimited amount of aid (as would any country) because what are they trying to do, save the US money while they get bombed?
