What do they mean by connect your UI to the cloud? How is it different than any other component library?

  There isn't an intermediary api. Aws amplify is a Backend as a Service, and so your components directly query the database instead of you building an api and building the querying logic for the frontend .

    This sort of thing sounds like "vendor lock-in city", to be blunt, but that is a categorical criticism I level at this entire market niche of BEAAS
