So why would they build the Antioch extension with a different gauge?
- andbberger 4y agoto save money, although it ended up not being significantly cheaper than extending mainline BART
- runarberg 4y agoDidn’t they modify an existing Union Pacific right of way to accommodate BART for that extension? Changing the gauge would have probably be an excessive cost on top of that (although maybe it would have been worth it in the long run). I think they plan on doing something similar with the Valley Link project between Dublin/Pleasanton to Lathorp in the San Joaquin Valley.
