I don’t know how you’re reading these sentences and taking the opposite message away! > the entire realm of software encoding schemes has been poisoned by patent royalty schemes for far too long Apple, Google, Meta are forming an ANTI-patent royalty scheme. The EU is trying to stop them. Apple etc trying to do things differently, EU trying to maintain the awful status quo of patent wars.
