Ask HN: How many Amazon recruiters are currently bugging you?
Right now I have three separate Amazon recruiters who are actively trying to recruit me... One of them is from a "special internal team". When I asked them about what is special about this team they didn't know. None of the recruiters have any awareness of the other. I haven't taken any of the programming tests yet, but they keep getting renewed, even though I've missed the deadline multiple times in a row and haven't talked to the recruiter again.
What's going on at Amazon? They are needing to hire SWEs this bad? Is this new? Have they always operated like this?
- surf_wreck21 4y agoIt's always been like this for me. I used to respond and engage to build a relationship "just in case", but they churn so fast there's no point.
- ultra_nick 4y agoThere's a new one every week.
- thesuperbigfrog 4y ago>> What's going on at Amazon? Amazon is customer-centric, but employee-abusive. They use employees like disposable paper products and always need more. >> They are needing to hire SWEs this bad? Yes. They have natural attrition due to employee burn out and an "unregretted attrition" quota where they fire 6% of their employees [1]. >> Is this new? No. >> Have they always operated like this? Yes, for quite some time. - arthurcolle 4y agoLiterally like 6 over the past few days. Totally insane.
- Hatrix 4y agoThey bug me about jobs that have nothing in-common with my background. They mention my "profile" but, whatever profile they are looking at is not mine and they won't tell me where it is.
- d23 4y agoUsually at least a few, and none of them seem aware of the others. Even when I was interviewing with them a few years ago individual recruiters appeared to not remember who they had already put me in touch with.
- orange_county 4y agoYou can get them to stop talking to you by purposely bombing the coding challenge that they give out. That should do the trick.
- faangiq 4y agoTheir reputation is well known as a low quality underpaying sweat shop. So no one wants to work there.
- sgillen 4y agoNone, but for some reason I have three Apple recruiters contacting me about the exact same role.
