It has become a general problem on Reddit that mods view the subreddit they're supposed to moderate as personal fiefdoms. The supposed house rules are often applied arbitrarily. If the the mod agrees with your, let's say, political stance you can do whatever you want (including calls for violence or political activism), if they disagree, you'll get banned over nothing.
My IP became permabanned at some point after I was first ridiculously temporary-banned on /r/de (the german main subreddit) for saying that "the german Green party should be held accountable for their election campaign promises", without being any given reason for that ban.
After trying to contact the mods, wanting to hear the reason and asking to be unbanned, I was permabanned from /r/de accompanied by a snarky "Weg!"(Begone!) reply from some anonymous mod. I then tried to escalate this to Reddit's complaint department and only got an auto-reply that I should "talk to the mods". Since (being banned from /r/de) that obviously wasn't possible, I created a new account and finally got IP auto-permabanned for "ban-evasion", banning all compartmentalized accounts including those which had never been used on /r/de.
I still frequent some of the programming subs but only can do so through Tor anymore.
