Yes, DRY should not be a religion - I will write more code, possibly duplicated, if I deem it necessary for the code to be more readable that way. It's a judgement call, but I think the basic concept of DRY should still stand. If you find yourself cutting and pasting too much, stop, go get a coffee, take a walk, come back, and see how you can do it better.
