The hn-friends extension allows very basic user tagging if you're willing to put up with the very clunky UX to add a tag - but it's not like I use it that often and tagging is a one-off cost which IMO pays itself back via not engaging with content where past evidence suggests I'm unlikely to find "valuable discussion". https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/hn-friends/ffgfcbfgdemibfcpcfkpicfgkiojbdkn https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/hn-friends/ffgfcbf... Just remembered that the HN Comments Owl extension in fact adds a mute user link to posts along with letting you highlight new comments since you last read a story and/or collapse comment threads you've seen - although that bit is a touch flaky, especially with multi-page stories, and if you comment without doing so in a new tab. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/hn-comments-owl/kpoggabejgbenjahggloahnnaolmfock https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/hn-comments-owl/kp...
