Boris Johnson has agreed to resign
- sph 4y agoAh, the sad prospects of the United Kingdom. Cameron had the whole Brexit plan backfiring on him and the entire kingdom spectacularly, May tried to move that dystopic idea forward but couldn't, Johnson got the worst possible Brexit done but couldn't provide any answer for post-Brexit blue passport Britain. Meanwhile on the other side of House, Sir Keir Starmer repeats the same Tory party lines because appeasing the Brexiters is more important than his regular voter base, so he promises he'll figure out how to make hard Brexit work, this time for real. Even considering to join the EEA has become toxic. Certainly let's not talk about the Lib Dems, they had lied that time about student fees and nobody will ever touch them with a 10-foot pole. Lying, in politics? Utterly unacceptable. Without mentioning that this country has been in a standstill since 2016. The secret not to tackle the housing and job crisis is to create an even bigger crisis to keep everyone occupied. "On vit une époque formidable", they say across the Channel.
- rvz 4y agoAll politicians are liars. So there is that.
- toomuchtodo 4y agoAnd the people who belong in the job don’t want the job, rightfully so.
- t43562 4y agoThe country gets the leadership it deserves. We elect people who tell us X or Y because that's what we want to hear. The only way to be honest and also get elected seems to be to not understand that your promises are impossible to keep. Also we're not a little boat that can be turned around in a few minutes - we're like a huge tanker that cannot turn suddenly and no amount of radical action is going to turn it into a jet aeroplane or whatever it is that some people imagine it could be. Most of us are ignorant of how things work (I'm definitely included in that - I only know a small bit of how some things work) and we can be full of ridiculous and impractical ideas and that is exploited by politicians. The politicians that are honorable and don't exploit our silliness ..... don't get elected.

- thinkingemote 4y agoGenerally PM as celebrity isn't as popular in the UK as it has been in the USA. Less of a figurehead, although Johnson wanted himself to be. So what that means is that the government will continue to run things. It's not like impeachment of a president.
