I've used Spotify to listen podcasts in the past, and was quite happy with it. I really like that it correctly syncs progress between devices, and has a great web client.
However, some time ago I started noticing issues when playing podcasts via iOS CarPlay, which would regularly require rebooting car radio unit.
I've since switched to Apple Podcasts which I don't like at all, but at least it doesn't mess with my radio. The main issues being the lack of webUI, and that syncing is terrible; I cannot rely on starting a podcast on a computer, and continuing on my phone.

- devilbunny 4y agoWith Apple Podcasts, you can't even reliably start a podcast on your phone and continue it on your phone. I kept finding it would lose its place in a podcast. Not a big deal for a thirty-minute one, but if you're listening to a long one (say 3-4 hours), it's a huge issue - especially as (at least at the time) there was no "skip X seconds ahead". You had to try to move the slider button to the correct timestamp. I'll second the recommendation for Overcast. Maybe not perfect, but it's good enough and it's free.
