As someone who has donated all of the money I’ve ever made to fight global warming, I can say the problem is the heartless and shallow so called environmentalists. Here in the west our so called green movement is run by puppets of authoritarian regimes attempting to use morality as a way to gain leverage. It’s the reason why the Germans banned nuclear and is reliant on Russia. It’s the reason why America is cutting its energy output. It’s the reason why the ecb has stopped support of fertilizer plants in Africa and Europe. It’s a disaster and no one should ever listen to someone who can’t quantify the problem or the solution .

- codingdave 4y agoThat is a great chart - if looked at carefully, especially when comparing to the rig count, which had a huge drop at the start of the pandemic but has been steadily increasing for a couple years... it is clear the the reduced output is not due to slowing of drilling, but to the steeper decline of output from non-traditional wells (fracking, horizontal drilling, etc.) The engineers in the oil & gas industry were predicting this eventuality back in 2009 when I was working on an app in that arena. The main reason I point this out is to make sure people realize that "America is reducing its energy output" is political rhetoric and not productive to the conversation. The reality is that our oil & gas output is not sustainable in the long-term no matter where your politics fall, and we need new solutions.
