- dgb23 4y agoThere is a specific type of gem you find on HN sometimes: full-blown rants. I find them very entertaining and started to collect them recently.
- Akronymus 4y agoAlso, occasionally there are REALLY high quality, altough subtle, jokes in a comment that is still a part of a productive discussion. Humour for humours sake is definitely frowned upon though.
- mellavora 4y agosuch as the above post
- Akronymus 4y agoSo subtle, it flew over my head and is still flying off into the sunset. I genuinly thought it was just someone enjoying collecting rants. (Which, some rants are quite enjoyable to read.)
- dgb23 4y agoWhen I realized I was making a joke it was already too late! In all seriousness I actually did start to collect HN rants I find funny a short while ago. There is something about elaborate rants that just gets me. Similarly I love elaborate, negative (social media) reviews. They are often way too serious and over the top.

- gilmore606 4y agoWhat you're talking about (rants that seem like they should be instant classics, which you save for later amusement) are known in chanspeak as 'pasta' (copypasta). There are many, many classic pasta rants (the Navy Seal Pasta being possibly the most well known). Bless you for keeping our culture alive.

- 6510 4y agoWe need some kind of framework for humor development. Lets start with the scripted spaghetti jokes, work towards functional humor then eventually do classes. OOH!
