You are more likely to die in a vehicle accident in the US than from a firearm in the US or warfare in Afghanistan. When I was a teenager I was once stopped for clocking at 135 in a 45mph zone. The fastest speed run I remember completing, also as a teenager, is 52 miles in 27 minutes from Grapevine Texas to Seagoville Texas in a shitty old Jeep Cherokee. These events were unsafe.
