How did Netflix waste my time
- WheelsAtLarge 4y agoStreaming shows are longer than they need to be simply because they can be. In the past Movies and TV shows had a time limit because it was profitable to do so. At movie theaters the more times they show a movie the more the theater earns. They need to be as short as possible while still telling a story. The standard time has been around 1.5 hours with a few movies being longer. The standard TV show is an hour including commercials. For streaming services there is no time limit. Actually the longer the better since they can keep you watching just that much longer. Plus it adds to the total streaming content hours produced. The longer the better. And usually it costs little more since producers usually create way more footage that can be used in the show or movie. The down side is that streaming audiences have to endure more frivolous content. This is one of the reasons I've reduced my streaming content viewing. I'm now leaning more towards original movies that are headed to the movie theater since they have to be as tight as possible given the theater requirements.
