That's kind of the logic of a cheating spouse: "hey, if they don't know, they aren't harmed." Or for that matter, someone who spies through a peep hole at hotel guests. Sure, this is less serious, but I don't agree with the "what you don't know doesn't harm you" excuse. It's deceptive and wrong.
