Lebanon was covered in forests until the iron age
- dredmorbius 4y agoIron? Or bronze? I'd thought that the deforestation was already advanced by Greek times, though I can't find a clear reference to when or what factors were involved.
- kurupt213 4y agoMycenaean Greek or Athenian golden age Greek? The Mediterranean Bronze Age ended around 1177 BC
- dredmorbius 4y agoHrm ... yeah the bronze-iron transition was earlier than I thought, though I'm still not sure when exactly Lebanon became substantially deforested.
