Show HN: A USB-Rubber-Ducky Blocker (50 Codes)
- pleinairist 4y agoThe code is valid for 50 uses. If more are needed, please let me know. The link is to redeem a code for an app for blocking USB-Rubber-Duckies by locking the screen when a keyboard is connected. There are some more features, but that's the main one. Feedback welcome. The link to the app on the Windows Store is https://www.microsoft.com/store/apps/9P7FV5575G0C https://www.microsoft.com/store/apps/9P7FV5575G0C The code for use as a standalone code instead of a link is: D9KTW-X2YHQ-XJG4R-DDXDX-HR73Z
- pleinairist 4y agoThe instructions here https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22336638 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22336638 say: "put your link in the URL field and leave the text field blank." But I see that others do post text, so are the instructions wrong, or did I do right by adding my text in a separate comment as mentioned above as well: "Add a comment to the thread ..."
- focusedone 4y agoThis is a very good idea. At some point functionality like this should be baked into OSs or at least available as a GPO (short of a USB device whitelist).
- yodon 4y agoHey Microsoftie reading this page! Yes you! Could you please tell your VP they should buy or build this into the OS? Thanks!
- pleinairist 4y agoYou seem to know this site well. Was there something wrong with the post which caused it not to be shown on "show"? Thanks.
- joisig 4y agoTakes me straight to a log-in pge with no additional context, is that intentional?
- pleinairist 4y agoIt's the link that's created by Microsoft for their promo codes. Linking to the app's page itself would have been a problem because it's not free. It's only free with the promo code. In another comment on this thread I added a link to the app's page, and the promo code as a self standing code so you can use it by yourself. The login page is AFAIK a page to log in to your Microsoft account to use the code. But as mentioned above - see another comment of mine with the details of how to do it manually.
